The Family

Mom & Dad - the recently spent two weeks making a loop through Colorado and Nebraska. It was the maiden voyage with their new to them camper trailer. They have lots of great stories. They visited friends in Colorado and Jarrod and his wife Jessie in Nebraska. Jarrod and Jessie were married on August 11. Jarrod manages a feedlot and Jess is working at Cabelas.

Eric is looking forward to a new, state of the art printing press at work.

Anna is busy with school and working at Dollar Tree.

Jerry is riding with the Patriot Guard for soldier funerals and has joined the Sons of the American Legion riders. He is deep in high school seniors photography and we have several art shows this fall. We have also done one wedding a month for the last several months.

The hospital is keeping me busy during the day and I try to help Jerry with the photography when I can. The Prayer Shawl ministry at church has started again this fall and I am working on several gifts as well.

I will close with a picture from our Cancun vacation this summer.

This is an ongoing project for Eric. It is a knitted log cabin blanket. I started this last winter after reading about it in "Mason*Dixon Knitting" by Kay Gardiner and Ann Shayne. The first one had so many mistakes I was going to frog it and start over but Eric wanted it for Alex his dog. So Alex got the first blanket and Eric will get the second.
This blanket is colors from my stash that Eric approved. The colors and logs are randomly chosen from two lists I generated from www.random.org
Since this picture was taken I am adding the next log to the lime green at the top of the picture and it too is lime green.

Catching up

I won't even try to catch up on everything that has gone on since May. I will just jump back in and blog on what comes to mind at the moment.
I had CPR class tonight. American Heart, every two years and it was soooooo easy. If you haven't ever certified or need to recertify, don't wait. It is easy, quick (less than two hours) and did I say it was easy. Just do it.

Prom was April 21st. We were the official photographers but these are just mom snapshots taken at home.
Anna won her dress and her dates tux rental at a local store. I was certainly excited that I only had to pay $8.58 for her dress. The dates parents were pretty happy with a free tux as well.
The date is a friend. He also attends Olpe.
The last picture is what the prom queen looks like at 3 a.m. following the after prom party. Yes that is a Hooters T-shirt, a garter and a tiara.

Lastest knitting projects

Here are a few things I have been working on. I have most of my projects photographed on film and not developed yet. I finally took the time to let Jerry teach me how to use the digital camera and now I can post much sooner.

This is the "Fountain Lace" dishcloth pattern from the FunKnittingDishclothKal. It was designed by smariek
I love her designs. Haven't tried any of her hats yet but someday.


This was my fifth knitted prayer shawl and uses two Lion Brand Homespun yarns in browns and a little green in one. I didn't have enough of one by itself so combined the two and randomly switched back and forth. It is a little wider and not quite as long as my others and I kind of like that.







This prayer shawl is the very first one I knit. I have carried it to many meetings but it hasn't found a home yet. It is knit with Lion Brand Homespun in Edwardian.










This is a prayer cloth that will go to First United Methodist very soon. It is difficult to tell but it is navy, green and burgandy. The yarn is Lion Brand Homespun and the color is Mission. I did my usual K3,P3 but changed the needle size every 9 rows. This makes 9 tight rows and 9 loose rows. I wanted a more scolloped edge but needed a bigger size difference in my needles. I would try this one again to get the look I was hoping for.



This is a stocking dishcloth from FunKnittingDishclothKal. Sorry it doesn't show up better but this is pretty much how it looks in person. It was so easy to knit and the first time I have done anything like this.







The green bib and the varigated burp cloth are a set awaiting a new baby. Actually they will probably go to my newest great niece Kaylen Ranee.
The blue burp cloth needs a bib to match it so is patiently waiting for me to knit one.
The varigated bib is my first bib knit from the Mason Dixon book and is in use by the grandaughters when they are here.

Frozen

What isn't frozen? The very outdoor cats have taken to dashing into the house when I open the door to feed them. The birds are attacking the feeder outside my window. Otherwise, nothing is moving this morning. We didn't get the snow the weather man was predicting but as usual we got the ice.

Fortunately we moved Eric to Manhattan last Sunday. He has a very nice apartment less than 5 minutes from work, the landlords are very nice people and we already have Anna's name on the list for one of two units that will be opening this summer. To tell you how accepting they are of pets Mrs. Landlady suggested putting a box outside the window and one inside so that Eric could just open the window and let Alex in and out to the fenced back yard. Due to an odd closet placement the full size sofa would not fit through the door. Mr. Landlord suggested removing one of the front windows. So that is exactly what he and Jerry did. The couch came in through the window and Eric promply told Mr. Landlord that when he moves out he is leaving the couch for the next tenant.

Anna was allowed to return to cheer leading after her therapy session on Thursday. She was really excited but then the weather happened and the game was postponed. Tuesday she will put on her uniform and see if the knee can handle jumping, stunting and the real evil prior to surgery, standing for a long period of time. She has been working out daily and believes she will be able to handle it. I certainly hope so.

Work has been very busy and with this ice storm we will probably have a broken hip or two. Ice is job security for car body shops and people body shops.

Time to tune into the morning church service and prepare my brain for going out in the cold for the evening service. I am fixing soup for supper so I will have something to look forward to after church. I HATE cold weather.

50th Anniversary

I know all of you have seen this image by now. At least I hope you received an invitation or announcement. I'm sorry not everyone could be there. We had a great day. Roy and Floyd were able to be there. Bill, Sherry, Cheryl, Richard, Rodney and other misc. family members were able to come. The weather was perfect and we drove them out of town with a car decorated just like newlyweds. Hummmm, I had better get those pictures downloaded and posted for everyone to see. We are also working on a CD of images from Aunt Dora's memorial service. Can you believe it has been almost a year since she left us? Enough playing for tonight. Til next time.
